WELCOME

Hearty welcome to Mount Carmel College, Karukadom. Established in 2012, Mount Carmel College is an unaided institution approved by the government of Kerala and affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam. The campus is located in a semi- urban surroundings at Karukadom on Kochi-Dhanushkodi national highway near Kothamangalam. The college is a minority Christian institution managed by the St. Thomas Province of the Order of Carmelites (O. Carm.), a religious order of the Catholic hierarchy, headquartered in Rome.

The college offers seven UG and four PG programmes. It regularly runs three add-on/certificate programmes too. The institution also gives due importance to integration of research with academic activities and ensures a dynamically symbiotic student-neighbourhood community relationship. The college attracts quality students from the length and breadth of the state. Some students even come from other states. We have 42 personnel on the teaching staff and nearly 700 students on the roll.

Fr. Joseph Kotschner

Our Visionary Leader

Fr. Joseph Kotschner (1924-2001) is the founder of Order of Carmelites in India. he was instrumental for the establishment of Mount Carmel College, Karukadom. He was born on 05, April, 1924 in Slovakia. Later his family migrated to Germany for a better future. After his school education he joined in the German military to fight for his nation in the second world war. He had undergone all unprecedented consequences of great depression and the second world war. Germany lost the war and he was imprisoned by the Russian Army. The physical and mental torture that he had experienced in Russian prison had the effect of losing his vision.
