Aim of the Programme

The course aims at providing specialization to the students in the field of commerce. The broad aim of the Programme is to provide awareness to the learners regarding the developments in the field of Business, Commerce, Industry and Management and equip them to develop necessary analytical and managerial skills, so as to cope up with the challenges posed by industry and environment, both national and global.

About the programme

The Department of Commerce was established with the renowned flagship post-graduate programme- Masters in Commerce (M.Com). Apart from the other post-graduate and research courses M.Com is the most exalted two year full time post-graduate programme in commerce. The course provides an extreme and rigorous base for teaching, research and allied business administration. The course serves the needs of academics and prepares students for research and teaching.

Eligibility for Admissions

Admission to PG programmes in Mount Carmel College is effected through Centralised Allotment Process (CAP) adhering to all the norms.

A candidate who has passed B Com/BBA/ BBM approved by M G University with a minimum of 45% are eligible to pursue the M. Com Programme on a regular basis. Relaxation in percentage is allowed for SC/ST, OEC, SEBC and physically challenged students as prescribed by the University from time to time.

M.Com

  • Graduation in Commerce /BBA/BBM with not less than CGPA of 1.80 out of 4 in the Core Group (Core + Complementary + Open Courses).
  • Graduation in Commerce /BBA/BBM with not less than CCPA of 4.5 out of 10 in the Core Group (Core + Complementary + Open Courses).
  • Graduation in Commerce /BBA/BBM with not less than 45% marks in the Part III (Main/Core + subsidiaries/Complementaries.

Programme Objectives

  • To prepare students to exploit ever growing opportunities being newly created in the field of commerce.
  • To create a conducive environment that holistically engages students through an all– encompassing knowledge impartation, Developing entrepreneurial skills and sound theoretical foundation.
  • To give adequate exposure to the operational environment in the field of commerce and it offers this as a natural extension of the undergraduate course in Commerce.
  • To formulate business problems and provide innovative solutions thus molding them into future visionaries, management leaders that are compassionate yet efficient.
